(*1971 in Burgwedel) is a german photo, video and conceptual artist. He lives in the Hanover region and works internationally in the field of visual communication.

Schumacher's background as a visual artist is shaped by an interest in participation and social interaction. As early as the 1980s, a socially responsible and creative approach to federal youth work began. With a film study of young people in Hanover (10:15 Saturday Night) and a documentary about the weekend surrounding the fall of the inner-German border (The weekend after November 9, 1989), film works are created that are shown at film festivals. With three other short films made in 1991/92 together with his brother Leif Schumacher (Route 66, Speed & Spinning Head), the work achieved greater international attention.

These aesthetic works of cultural implication receive awards and are broadcast on numerous TV stations in Russia, Europe and North America. From 1996, Schumacher and a group of interested parties were involved in the first regional television project for the Hanover region and developed a magazine for the “OK Hannover” / “h1 - Fernsehen aus Hannover” television format with the television format “OKOK TELEVISION”.

This is followed by encounters with the Fluxus art movement and works that can be assigned to the art-theoretical term "social sculpture". A further development in the field of photography, which is characterized above all by two successful diploma courses at the HSVN Hanover [2005 - 2008, social science background] and the Academy of Cultural Education of the Federal Republic, Remscheid [2001-2004 media consulting], close numerous international participation in exhibitions. As a means of artistic expression, works on paper, wood and cast bronze are also created.

The "Kassler Documents" project received a special response at the dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel, where the consumption of a culinary specialty was documented by a photo. An interdisciplinary exchange takes place in several networks, in this context there are also activities as a juror, such as at the international Biennale of Miniature Arts 2020 & 2018 in Timisoara, Romania.
